Location: Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
Caroline contacted me two days before the day of the actual shoot and I was very pleased about simplicity and efficiency with which we were able to plan things. I had initially hoped to do this shoot with the help of my sister who would have held the reflector, but unfortunately she was not available that morning, and so we worked alone. The location was the same as it had been for the same shoot the previous day: at my parent’s home in northern Germany. This was a little tedious, but at least I had the assurance of knowing exactly which places offered the best lighting and from which angle and how to position the model.
The shoot lasted just over an hour and we spent half of the time shooting indoors and half outdoors, where there was some light snow on the ground. The weather was beautiful - if a little cold - and the winter sun was just low enough for us to get some beautiful backlight shots. We experimented with some sparklers, but their harshness and unpredictability forced us to give up on them fairly quickly - learning by doing.
